Practical Cycles offers you the choice of a ready-made electric assist Cargo Bike or the option of converting the bike you currently own to an electrically assisted one.
We offer our very capable Yuba Mundo 6 speed with the eZee electrical assist hub motor. We call this the Yuba Mundo Electric Six!
The eZee Kit can also be fitted to our Madsen and Surly Big Dummy Cargo Bikes. It is also compatible with Xtracycle Conversions including our Electra Townie/Freeradical Kit.
The same Kit we use to power this bike is also available seperately. The eZee is simple to fit to any 700c or 26" wheeled bike (not just Cargo Bikes!). It can be run with rim brakes (ideally 'V' brakes) and also with disk brakes. It fits in place of your original front wheel.
The battery of the eZee Kit can be attached to a rear rack, the main frame of your bike or in a pannier bag.
The eZee electrical assist is there to help out at the times when you need it. It is not advisable to use it simply without pedaling for any long periods - it's there for assistance up hills, in headwinds and to get away from junctions/traffic lights etc. A throttle (either thumb or hand grip) is mounted on the handlebars and all kits have the option of automatic cut off when the brake levers are activated.
The range is approximately 20 miles although this could be more or less depending on the type of bicycle, rider weight, load weight and the terrain. Either way you'll no longer pull yourself inside out climbing a hill with a heavy load!
The eZee Kit comes complete with everything you need to get moving including a choice of tyres, parts for adding a disk brake and a mains charger.
