A stripped bottom bracket thread may not spell instant doom for your favourite frame!

It happens - threads get worn with years of bottom bracket removal/installation, a left hand thread is wrongly inserted into a right and even corrosion - they can all ruin bottom bracket threads.

The solution is simple with this bottom bracket. There are no threads to interface with the frame. Instead the cups push into the bottom bracket shell and where the two meet in the middle there is threading on the bracket it self. Tighten it up and the two cups clamp onto the bottom bracket shell.

The bottom bracket is a sealed cartridge unit type and has a square taper axle. It is suitable for bottom bracket shells of 68mm. Crank bolts are also supplied.

Time to fix up that frame hanging in the garage with dodgy threads?....

Two axle l;engths available - 119mm or 122.5mm

Elegant,  beautiful & Practical ! Some classic road bikes (singlespeed, fixed?) would look odd if you attached a standard chainguard all that polished early campagnolo componentry and classic Cineli quill stems requires something beautiful to match it in the chainguard department especially if you ride such a machine every day but want to keep your trouser legs clean and free from chainring snags.

This tasty-looking Hebie chainguard is minimal but enough to keep you looking presentable when you reach your journeys end.

Silver alloy - fixes to the driveside bottom bracket cup/lockring.

Sizes to suit upto 42t or upto 48t chainring (choose from menu below)

This really is an excellent chain tensioner. Looks good and is really well built with plenty of adjustability for chainline. It reminds us of the Rohloff chain tesnioner (which it isn't) but it doesn't cost as much!
  • Material: CNC machined aluminium.
  • Compatibility: 16-18T.
  • Weight: 122g.
  • Colour - black only
This chain tensioner is suitable for those wanting to convert to singlespeed but only have vertical dropouts. It is also great for people running hub gears (we love 'em!) again with no way of tensioning the chain. This will keep you chain tight, but not overtight. This chain tensioner 'behaves' like a stripped down derailleur - rather than holding your chain in one position - which can be beneficial to preventing chain jump on hub gear singlespeed set ups.

Although we've found this to be a very capable device for converting non-track or non-horizontal dropout frames into singlespeed flyers, we've also found it's extremely Practical for those with Hub Gears.

Ideally you need a track or horizontal dropout (or eccentric botom bracket) to tension the chain on a hub geared bike (as you do on a singlespeed). However, if you are, like many of our customers, wanting to convert a frame/bike with vertical dropouts from a derailleur transmission to a hub geared one you will need a tensioner like this one!

You will need a derailleur hanger on your bike but that's all. This works with bolted axles or q/r ones. The body of the tensioner bolts  into the derailleur hanger and then the axle nut/qr (special nut supplied) into the slotted part of the tensioner - allowing you to apply pressure on the chain and keep it taut. (see picture)

Note - not suitable as a tensioner on fixed gear set ups - don't even go there.
