These are essential for cargo bikes - especially the Yuba Mundo.
They make loading and unloading easy and safe by preventing the bike from toppling over. They also make parking quick and easy. We recommend fitting these stands in conjunction with a Hebie Steering Stabilizer - see below. Rated to 40kg.
Model number 0690C NL E
Similar to the Bipod Bigfoot stand (above) but with a slightly narrower stance (by about 2cm) and also made out of steel.
Capable of holding loaded bikes upto 40kg. You should really use this stand in conjunction with a Hebie Steering Stabilizer (below).
Will it fit? - Measure the height from the gournd to the bottom of your chainstays or kickstand plate - if this is less than 29cm this stand will work. Note that if the distance is much shorter than 29cm your bike will sit with the front wheel up in the air higher when parked.
Product code - 605 NL
A recommended companion for the Hebie Bipod Bigfoot Centre Stand (above).
This prevents the steering from 'flopping' when the bike is parked on the centre stand. This is important as if the steering flops it can unsteady a parked bike and easily get caught by passers by. It also helps make steering more predictable on bikes where the front carrier is attched to the steering.
Model number - 695 62F
This kickstand is made from alloy so it's stiff and tough but also lightweight. It's anodised black.
Both legs can be adjusted to fit bikes from 26" - 700c - so that covers mountain bikes upto hybrid or racing bikes. We reckon you can also fit it to smaller wheeled bikes - 24" and possibly 20" BUT you need to measure the height of your bottom bracket to the ground - if this is less than 26cm it might not work. You will also need to ensure (whatever sort of bike you have) that you have a kickstand plate. A whatta? A kickstand plate is a flat piece of metal with a hole in it that is usually welded to the bike frame centrally just behind the bottom bracket behind where the cranks are. If you ain't got one you can't fit this stand.
The legs adjust so easily - simply press the red button in on each leg and slide the leg to the deisred 'notch' on the main frame - once it is in the correct position let go of the button and the leg automatically locks firmly in place.
We always recommend kickstand users to fit a Steering Stabilizer - this is a simple, inexpensive device that stops the steering 'flopping' when the bike is parked on the kickstand. Floppy steering can easily lead even a bike on a kickstand to topple over. We have Steering Stabilizers elsewhere on this page.
Sometimes Practicality comes in the shape of simplicity - like with this propostand. It's also very reasonably priced too!
It fits 700c and 26 " bikes (road and mountain bikes) and clamps to the bottom bracket area of your bike.
Provided you are carefull when loading and unloading any cargo on your bike (you've got a longbike right?) then this is low cost highly Practical kick stand.
If on the other hand you are forever shouting "timber" as you watch your cargo bike tumble as you load/unload it - perhaps you should think about an Xtracycle Kickback stand or Hebie Bipod Bigfoot stand which you will find elsewhere on this page.
These are another of our Cargo Bike essentials. You should always have at least a pair of these in your bag!
Brilliant for strapping cargo to the top of your rear carrier or strapping larger loads to the sides of your Mundo, Dummy or Xtracycle.
Metal strap buckles, 25mm width straps and 5 metres in length.
5 metres in length and 25mm width nylon webbing. Sold in pairs.
A cargo bike ain't a cargo bike without some straps like this.
This is a useful device to prevent your laden steed going for a little ride without you in the saddle! It's especially useful for those who tow a trailer behind their longbike as these can often multiply the run-away tendancies of laden bikes. Those who live in hilly areas may also benefit from the extra security these simple components offer whilst your bike is parked.
How do they work? Simple - squeeze the brake lever and push the button. This locks the pads in place on the rim or rotor. To take the brake off, simply squeeze the lever again and the button disengages - off you ride!
Only available for right hands.
Made by Promax - the masters of affordable efficient braking products.
Xtracycle have listened to their customers and have designed a stand especially for the the Xtracycleand Surly Big Dummy!
The adjustable, fold-out-of-the-way legs make for a sturdy and safe way of parking your Xtracycle or Dummy outside the Supermarket.
We think you simply just can't live without one of these - period.
Works with both 26" and 700c wheeled rigs.
This rack is good for anyone wanting to turn their bike into a delivery bike for their business or just for doing shopping.
It attaches to the bike in two places. Two hooks go over the flat section of the handlebars and are secured by a bolt on each hook. The rack also attaches to the forks where the axle nuts are.
This rack cannot be used with suspension forks.
The rack is made from steel and covered in a thick enamel paint coating.
Adjustable to fit a variety of frame/fork/handlebar sizes.
You can carry upto 15kg of cargo on this carrier!
Comes complete with instructions and stainless fitting bolts etc.
A simple but effective down tube fitting collar allows this rack to be fitted to the downtube of the bicycle rather than the handlebars and forks. This allows for considerable load carrying but most importantly does not affect the steering (bikes that have the carrier connected to the steering can become more difficult to steer under really heavy loads - but not impossible!).
The fact that it can be removed when not in use is simply a boon - why?- well you might want to fit a front child seat during the week and carry shopping at the weekend - that's why!
This rack is best suited to bikes with a high handlebar position (ie a high upright stem and/or slack-angled and tall head tube - as found on many Dutch Town and Hybrid bikes).
You will also require the correct diameter of downtub on your frame. Somewhere between 29.0mm and 31.8mm is fine. You may need to use a shim on smaller tubes (which can be easily made from an old drinks can and scissors (wear protective gloves!) Have a look at the picture to see fitting diagrams.
It's Swiss so has great build quality and reliability.
Available in black and silver (choose from menu)
2 sizes available (choose from menu)
- Standard - max bottom bracket height 290mm (ideal for 26" wheels)
- Long - max bottom bracket height 320mm (ideal for 700c wheels)
This gets the award for dullest item in our shop. However - if you own a Pletscher kickstand or are about to own one (or any other type) you will know/come to learn that the bare metal end of a kickstand doesn't hold onto the tarmac quite as well as rubber does. It also makes a horrible noise of bare alloy on tarmac - which in a long tour can really irritate - we know!
So a little rubber on the end can save many tears (where have we heard that one before...)
Go on - stick a rubber on it!
Life is much easier when you use elastic pannier straps!
These are a little more sophisticated than the cheapo bungees you can buy in hardware stores. They have nasty hooks that have a tendency to scratch frames and get tangled in spokes.
These straps have their own quick release mechanism that attach onto unobtrusive brackets that bolt onto the mudguard eyelets, pannier eyelets or even onto the axle ends behind the bolt or quick release. The strap ends themselves fix into the bracket quickly and easily. You often see these on Dutch Bikes - like the Bakfiets.
In the lands where everyday biking is as normal as cleaning your teeth (think Holland and Denmark) these are supplied on every bike. Unfortunately this isn't the case in the UK (YET!) so get some of these to carry your baguette, bunch of flowers or even a Turkish rug home fom the shops!
This clamp allows you to fit a pannier to a bike that only has a set of mudguard eyes (you'll find these right down by the near axle bolt or quick release). It means that the top parts of the panier rack have somewhere to attach to near the seatpost (touring and hybrid bikes etc have eyelets for the bolts to fit in already brazed onto their frame).
As a bonus this little device also doubles as a seatpost clamp It has a stainless steel hex key bolt to secure it.
SIZE - this clamp will fit frames that have a 31.8mm diameter seat tube. This diameter of seat tube is very commonly associated with a 27.2mm seat post.
COLOUR - black
