Make yourself really stand out with the Fibreflare. A space-saving, highly-visible light that is visible around a 180 degree area. Be seen from the side as well as the rear.
The Fibreflare is easily fitted almost anywhere to the bike frame with the re-useable rubber straps. It also has clips to enable it to fit on clothing or bags.
With around 70 hours of burn time (from 2 AAA batteries) and continuous or flashing mode, you will feel a little safer with one of these attached to your bike.
The Lumotec Plus N is a switched version for use with hub dynamos. The switch is on the back of the light which controls the dynamo. It is a standard round shaped front light with integral reflector and bi directional Z-diode which prevents over voltage. Supplied with 6V, 2.4W bulb. Upto 17 lux output. Can be single or twin wired. Can be run with a bottle or hub dynamo
This model has a standlight and switch for hub dynamos
Integral wire supplied for attaching to the hub dynamo
Can be upgraded to 6V, 3.0W bulb
Easy bulb replacement, no tools required
Anticorrosive and unbreakable
The IQ Fly Senso Plus light has a light output of 40lux, a standlight and Senso technology. There is no bulb in the centre of the radically designed reflector. Instead, a high powered LED is used as an indirect light source with an 'empty' reflector when you view the light. The useable lighted area of the Lumotec IQ Fly Senso Plus is uniformly illuminated to a maximum extent and twice as wide as with conventional reflectors - simply "nothing but light"
This model is for use with hub dynamos and has a standlight plus Senso technology which recognises motion and darkness.
Small and compact, Integral reflector, 100,000 hour LED life, usable with or withour rear light, excellent track illumination & supplied with a bracket
There has been a recent improvement to the electronics of this model to stop the light switching off in 'senso' mode when being approached by car headlights from behind. There is an 8 second delay before the light will turn off when the switch is in both the 'off' and 'senso' positions. This also applies when starting from rest, the light will be on for 8 seconds in all light conditions in both the 'off' and 'senso' positions.
The Cyo range moves the boundaries for dynamo LED lighting systems forward yet again. More compact in size and brighter by 50% than the popular IQ Fly range these lights set the standards for the coming years
The Cyo Senso Plus model has senso technology which recognises motion and darkness and a standlight and is for use with hub dynamos.
B+M have made two core models - with and without an integral reflector.
This model has 60 lux output with the light beginning a few feet in front of the bicycle. It does not have an integral reflector - hence the light output is brighter.
Rear pannier rack mounted battery light with intelligent Senso technology which automatically switches the light on and off with combined motion and darkness. Vario fitting allows the light to be used with 50 or 80mm racks
The cyclist can choose to switch onto permanent light (during daylight for foggy conditions), to switch off or to switch onto Senso mode. The light/dark and the motion sensor automatically activates the light in the case of motion and darkness or poor light conditions.
Cab be run from dynamo or two alkaline AA batterires (batteries provide the standlight function)
Very bright light output
LED indicator warns of low battery
Three position switch
Wherever possible at Practical Cycles we try to only source lights that don't require batteries. Why?
Batteryless lights are greener, save you money in the long run, save you time and are therefore Practical! However, there are one or two lights that require batteries (we think) that are just too good to ignore just because they use batteries (eg the Fibreflare) and now these little lights from German light supremos Busch & Muller.
Four independently wired red LED bulbs are powered by a flat watch type battery making this a very compact and lightweight (18g for the whole light set!).
Each led can be stuck (using the supplied adhesive pads) into the vents of your helmet. The tiny battery housing is to be clipped onto the helmet strap or stuck onto the helmet. The battery housing is about the size of a Pound coin/Euro
You can expect about 100 hours of light from the battery. Designed to be used at the rear of the helmet (they are red leds). Two modes - off or flashing!
Simple, lightweight and highly visible!
This lock works by engaging a bar through the spokes which prevents the wheel being turned. These are as common as canals in Holland and elsewhere in Scandinavia.
In addition to this it is also compatible with the AXA Basta RLC100 chain lock (see below) which 'plugs in' to the side of the Defender lock. This means you can prevent the bike being moved along and also fix it to an immovable object for ultimate security.
For quick 2 minute stops to pop into the newsagent it's just enough deterent without resorting to a full-on cable weaving exercise around a lampost stinking of dog wee.
Fits to seatstays near the brake bridge/calipers and comes with brackets to fit to frames with no bosses. Click here to download fitting instructions.
Similar to the Axa Defender lock but without the ability to use the plug-in locks.
The Solid will mount to braze ons on the frame seat stays where available. Supplied with mounting brackets to fit seat stays.
Teamed with the Defender Lock, it provides pretty formidable security for your Bakfiets or other bike that you happen to have the Defender Lock fitted to.
NOTE - without the Defender RL lock (above) this lock is useless as it has no way of locking itself. It's a very good optional extention if you are buying or already own an AXA Basta Defender RL lock.
This lock integrates with the AXA Defender frame lock (see our shop to buy this!).
This cable lock simply plugs into your AXA Defender (or AXA Solid) frame lock and uses the key from the frame lock to lock this cable.
The cable lock is there to secure your bike to an immovable object - very important if you are leaving your bike unattended for a long time.
The cable is coved by a tough plastic sheath to prevent it scratching your bike. The cable is approx. 15mm in diameter
Length - 80cm.
Yes, you can fit an AXA frame lock to your mountain bike V brake bosses using this tidy little bracket.
It comes with all the fittings to fit it to your rear V brake bosses. The bonus is that you can continue to use your rear v brakes! The Kit comes with spacers and extended bolts so that the bracket sits over the V brake. The AXA Defender Lock simply then bolts onto the bracket.
A very Practical solution to fitting a frame lock to a 'normal' bike!
Always lock your bike to something immovable! This can sometimes be difficult in sheds and garages so treat your bike to this extra security when you lock it up at home.
You will need a 12mm masonry drill bit (and a power drill!) but everything else is supplied to put this lock into action! You must install this anchor in concrete floor or brick wall (avoid drilling into the mortar). Fitting instructions included.
The loop is wide enough to accept the widest cables, chains and d locks.
weighs about 1.5kg - so yo know its made of tough stuff!
The D Lock is 'Sold Secure Gold' which means it puts up a good fight for a long period of sustained attack from bolt croppers, hacksaws and bottle jacks. Some employers on the Cyclescheme insist on the bike being secured with this level of lock.
Size - U Lock - 280x110 mm plus 13m thickness
Size - Cable lock - 1200mm long x 10mm thickness
The New York Lock from Kryptonite has been 'flicking the Vs' to bike theives for a while now. In fact Kryptonite are so confident that your bike will not get stolen with their lock on that they have a £2500 1 year anti theft offer. The lock itself is guranteed for life.
Here's why it's so hard to penetrate this fortress of a lock:
- 18mm Kryptonium steel shackle
- Oversize crossbar with additional Kryptonium steel sleeve for double security
- Double deadbolt locking mechanism for extensive holding power
- Centre keyway design defends against leverage attacks
- Sliding dustcover to protect keyway when lock is in use
- Thick vinyl coating to protect bike whilst locked up
- Supplied with three keys, one with a high intensity LED and a replaceable battery
- Weight: 2.09 kg
There's an old addage that you should spend 10% of your bikes vallue on a decent lock so we reckon if your bike is worth more than £800 you need this lock. You should use this lock to secure your bike to an immovable object but don't forget the other easily removable parts on your bike such as quick release wheels - to secure these we recommend adding a cable lock such as the one below.
We know that many lock makers clain their lock is the hardest to crack but with this lock it REALLy is true!
To be used in conjunction with a Shackle/D Lock - ie this cable does not possess its own locking device. The idea is to thread the end loops through your D lock to secure quick release wheels and saddle etc.
- Cable diameter 10mm.
- Length 7 feet or 2.2 metres
- Velcro stowing strap included to stop any Slippy Snake moments!
